The LTSA has changed the guide lines for modified exhausts. These changes are designed to deal with excessive noise caused by modified exhausts, but unfortunately the rule changes do not provide a tangible benchmark that can be used to determine the compliance of an exhaust system. In particular this rule change may be a particular problem for car club members who own competition vehicles with modified exhausts, who wish to use these vehicles on public roads.
You can read more about these rules on the LTSA website.
If you are concerned about this problem you can download a letter designed to be signed by you and sent to the transport minister, requesting these rules be revisited and improved.
