Presidents Report

I would like to thank the committee for their work over the past year. I know work commitments have often prevented some of you from attending meetings, but you have all rallied when needed to run events. There are some committee members, who for personal reasons were not available for re-election. I wish you well in your endeavours be it in motorsport or otherwise and hope you will be seen at events where your expertise can be called upon if needed.

The Rallysprint and Interclub Hillclimb were again a huge success. Part of that success is the invaluable assistance from volunteers. Without your help events would not happen and I thank you sincerely. I know from experience it can get boring stuck in the middle of nowhere for a day with a car passing at sporadic intervals.

The club is currently in a healthy position with growing membership and hopefully in the coming year more clubsport events will be run. We are starting to see more youngsters entering while their parents are sitting on the sidelines.

To the competitors, thank you for competing and for making all the work that does on before events worthwhile. Thank you also to those that remain after an event and help clean up. This assistance is much appreciated by organizers and long may it continue.

Over the past year, we have been lucky enough to have new venues. Rodney Council allowed us the use of their car park. Unfortunately local residents complained about noise and tyre smoke, so we will not be able to use this venue again. We have however managed to get the use of the reserve behind KFC in Orewa. We held a successful Motorkhana there for our 30th Anniversary. While marred by a couple of young locals arriving and the police being called, we are still allowed to use the venue again.

Thanks to Craig Stead and the Warkworth Lions for getting us the use of farms in the Warkworth area. I am currently investigating the use of Kumeu Showgrounds, Topuni and Mahurangi Forests. All three of these are looking promising.

I have enjoyed my year as President and I wish the incoming committee every success in the coming year.

Karen
